Ricki is short for Ericka.
Ricki is a nickname coined by my friends. It’s short for Ericka, yes, with a “c” and a “k” because my parents already knew I would be a needy child…
You know when you’ve got something in your bones? When you can feel your soul stuck inside your marrow, wondering if you’ll have the courage to suck it, draw it out?
That’s what this is. Thoughts can be scary and sharing them with the world can be terrifying, but my bones have been calling to me, and I’m finally answering.
I was born and raised in the Western Slope of Colorado and have nourished roots in Denver, Chile, Canada, and Brazil. I am a traveler, a steward and recreator of most activities outdoors, a social butterfly, and a lifelong learner.
My background is in website design, graphic design, marketing strategy, project management, fundraising, process improvement methodologies, and more. I am hungry for moving pieces and big ideas.
I have always been a writer— an assortment of poems, blogs, papers, pitches, rants, websites, articles! Written words are how I process, learn, heal, grieve, love. So here they are! I hope they make you wonder or shudder or whisper or do a double-take.
I hope Ricki’s Rants Creative Co. can maybe even convince you that you want me to write something for you! Yikes! What if I’m cheesy or ignorant or privileged or psycho? What if no one reads this? What if people hate it? I know! I’m hoping to lead with confidence instead of insecurities here, but there is a lot of fear and hesitation in my head. I seriously do want your feedback, but gentle words can go a long way to somebody who is just now whispering some life into their hidden dreams.

Why are my words worthy of sharing? Isn’t the world over-saturated with content like this? These are questions I ask myself a lot. A wise friend once said that everyone deserves a platform. I can be both a writer and a reader, a speaker and a listener, a leader and a follower. Ricki’s Rants serves as a way for me to validate that and lean into my wisdom with less judgment.
